First and Second Bosphorus Bridges

1973/1988

Built 5km and 15 years apart, the Bosphorus Bridges, both of which were designed by Freeman Fox are the link between Asia and Europe.

The main span on both exceeds 1000m, placing them both in the top 15 longest bridge spans. In 2005, the First Bosphorus Bridge played host to the first tennis match to be played on two continents.

The design of the First Bridge also earned Freeman Fox the European Steel Award of the European Convention for Constructional Steelwork.
